Designing for BuyTile had its own unique set of challenges as it required careful consideration for all the features/functions that the user may need to allow them to purchase tiles for their home or office space as easily and effectively as buying tiles in store.
For this site, it is imperative that we provide the user with as much information as they'd need in order to make better informed decisions and avoid costly errors in the purchasing process. I kept the design clean so as to let the imagery speak for themselves. With the amount of content that goes into the site, a flat design and a well organized layout helps the user easily find the information they are looking for.
The Tile Calculator on the Product Page (left) is one of the most crucial features of this site. This allows the user to get a better estimate of how many boxes they will need to order based on the size of the tile, the number of tiles per box and the square footage of the area that the user is trying to fill.
